PBIS 

 

PBIS is a proactive systems approach to preventing and responding to classroom and school discipline problems.  This process focuses on improving the positive behavior of all students.  Emphasis is directed toward developing and maintaining safe learning environments where teachers can teach and students can learn.

 

The School 39 PBIS team has:

Follow bathroom rules and procedures.

Be where you are supposed to be

  • defined disciplinary policies and procedures and provided them to parents as part of the Student Handbook.
  • developed recognition of positive behaviors through Model Citizen certificates and assemblies as well as individual and class Crest Keeper Awards.
  • modeled appropriate behaviors in bathrooms, cafeteria, hallways, playground and bus loop stations.
  • developed explicit teaching of values as seen in the Principal's Book of the Month.
  • collected data using SWISS software and a parent survey to be analyzed by the team

 

Our suspension rate so far this year is lower than last year.
