Service Profile: Group 14621 Community Association is an advocacy agency working to involve our community members in collective efforts to improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods; enhance education, employment, housing and recreation opportunities for residents; and foster personal responsibility, understanding and appreciation of our diversity and similarities. Group 14621 is a membership organization open to those who live, work, worship, volunteer, or own property in the neighborhood generally bounded by the 14621 zip code. Among our activities, Group 14621 administers a home improvement grant for the City of Rochester, rehabilitates homes for first-time owners as a CHDO, and works with residents to address quality of life concerns. We are currently partnering with the City of Rochester to develop a targeted area. Group 14621 actively works to engage residents in planning for neighborhood development, identify problems and solutions, and educate community members regarding property codes, ordinances, and zoning requirements. Other programs include an employment referral program, graffiti removal initiative, neighbors for safety (working with Rochester Police Department), and development of community gardens throughout the neighborhood. Over the past year, Group 14621 has conducted an asset survey of sections of the neighborhood and held a board/staff retreat to evaluate our current programs and plan for the next few years.
